Portrait of Samuel Raoof
  1. Early years

    Where His Skincare Story Began

Long before Samuel Raoof built skincare companies, he was learning the business of caring for skin in his parents’ dermatology practice.

The son of immigrant parents (Joseph Raoof, MD, a dermatologist, and Miriam Raoof, a nurse), Samuel began working at their Encino, California, practice, RaoofMD, at a young age. The practice and the dermatology conferences he attended became his first classrooms, giving him an early understanding of what physicians needed, what patients expected and the trust behind every product recommendation.

He also witnessed what it took to build a business: daily work, personal commitment and responsibility for the care a practice provides. Those lessons would shape his own ambitions, inspiring him to build on his family’s foundation and pursue an opportunity of his own in skincare.

  2. 2003

Building the Foundation for Something Bigger

In 2003, Samuel Raoof took the lessons he had learned in his parents’ practice and began building a business of his own. He founded Neutraderm in an 800-square-foot office with a small lab for research and formulation. Working with a third-party manufacturer, he saw that high-active, technology-based skincare needed specialized environments and expertise that outside partners could not provide. So he moved the company into a 3,000-square-foot facility of its own, where he obtained its drug manufacturing license and brought formulation, compounding and filling under one roof, guiding skincare from an initial idea to a finished product.

These capabilities gave Samuel the infrastructure to develop products, support other brands and expand into new areas of skincare.

That first investment in manufacturing laid the groundwork for a portfolio that would span professional skincare and consumer beauty, including brandMD and DRMTLGY.

  3. 2003

Helping Medical Professionals Build Brands of Their Own

Samuel Raoof understood the value of a physician’s name and the trust it represented. In 2003, he launched brandMD to help medical professionals extend that trust into skincare they could proudly offer as their own.

His vision went beyond putting a practice’s name on a label. brandMD gave medical professionals access to advanced skincare formulas and custom labeling, along with dedicated product expertise, marketing resources and training. That support helped providers build skincare collections around their patients’ needs.

As brandMD grew, Leslie St. Blanc, its VP of Product Development & Marketing, helped shape the products and messaging behind that vision. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing the brand’s technology-driven, synergistic approach to formulation and helping practices communicate its value to patients.

Since its founding, brandMD has served more than 3,000 physicians, helping medical professionals turn the names their patients trust into skincare lines.

  4. Expansion

Bringing a Professional Skincare Vision to a Wider World

After years of developing skincare for medical professionals, Samuel Raoof saw an opportunity to reach the people beyond the practice doors. Together with childhood friend Scott Futterman, he co-founded DRMTLGY with a shared ambition: to bring high-quality, science-driven skincare to consumers at accessible prices.

Samuel brought deep experience in product development and manufacturing, helping turn that ambition into a business built to grow. Self-funded from the start, DRMTLGY established its connection with consumers online before reaching a major milestone: launching in more than 1,400 Ulta Beauty stores in December 2025.

As co-founder and chief operating officer, Samuel helped build the operational foundation behind that expansion, bringing together his expertise in skincare innovation, manufacturing and business growth to support the brand’s next chapter.

  5. Today

Three Companies. A Vision Brought to Life.

The perspective Samuel gained in his parents’ dermatology practice now informs a career spanning skincare development, manufacturing and brand building.

As founder and CEO of Neutraderm and brandMD, and co-founder and chief operating officer of DRMTLGY, Samuel brings deep experience translating ambitious ideas into products and businesses built to scale.

The results are evident today. Neutraderm occupies a three-building campus spanning more than 150,000 square feet and produces millions of units each month. brandMD has served more than 3,000 physicians. DRMTLGY has expanded from its online beginnings to the shelves of more than 1,400 Ulta Beauty stores.

Together, these businesses reflect Samuel’s ability to recognize an opportunity, build the infrastructure behind it and carry a vision into new markets while keeping quality skincare at the center of his work. See recent interviews
